Tottenham Hotspur take on Manchester United in the second round of the Premier League on Saturday at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in north London. The home team will feel that they can get the better of their opponents although the Red Devils, under the able leadership of new manager Erik ten Hag, have taken giant leaps in trying to overcome the few rungs down the ladder that they had gone in the recent past.

Key Highlights

Spurs will want to beat United but it is not that easy an task. They come into this game on the back of a shambolic 2-2 drawn encounter against Brentford last weekend. The Red Devils, for their part, have been known to fare particularly well against Spurs. When these two teams met last, however, they could not be separated and had to settle for a 2-2 draw, back in April this year. Spurs, however, will feel that they can change that. 

Injury Report

Both these teams have a long list of injured players in their ranks. Tottenham will have to make do without the likes of Ryan Sessegnon, Rodrigo Bentancur, Hugo Lloris, Fraser Forster and Bryan Gil among others. United, on the other hand, will be without Tyler Malacia, Rasmus Hojlund, Tom Heaton and Amad Diallo among others. 

Prediction

Neither Spurs nor United appear to be the overwhelming favourites to win this game. Both of these teams have very good defences and this will allow them to protect their prized midfield. Manchester United will want to make sure that they do not concede early and pass the ball to their midfielders, who can ultimately recycle it to their attackers. We expect BTTS (both teams to score) in this game.
