A rather lopsided contest might be on our hands when Real Sociedad host Real Madrid at home on Tuesday night in the 33rd round of La Liga. However, things in Spain are not as clear-cut as they used to be even a few years ago. Real Sociedad are ranked in the fourth position of the league table at the time of writing, with 58 points to their name whereas Real Madrid are located two spots above them in the same standings with ten more points inside their bag.

Key Highlights

Nothing could separate these teams when they met against each other in January earlier this year. They played out a goalless draw at the Santiago Bernabeu at the time. It is worth noting, however, that despite being the stronger side, Real Madrid have won only three out of the last five matches that they have played against Sociedad. This calls for a deeper introspection of the side from the capital city of Spain. 

Injury Report

Umar Sadiq and Diego Rico are among some of the players of the home team who will not be available for selection owing to injury issues while Martin Merquelanz is also a doubtful starter. For Real Madrid, midfielder Luka Modric, left-back Ferland Mendy and central defender David Alaba will not be available. This means that the side in white will have a gaping hole in their defence.  

Prediction

We expect BTTS (both teams to score) in this game. While historically, Madrid have been the stronger of the two teams, Sociedad have played extremely well this season and thoroughly deserve to qualify for the Champions League next season, if they do manage to do so. Real Madrid need to play out of their skins, not least because they will be playing away from home.
